Touch of Elune OOC: What about the Kaldorei inspires you, and what is your favorite thing about them? Kaldorei are without a doubt one of my favorite original races in World of Warcraft. Humans, Dwarves and Orcs may predate Night Elves in terms of fantasy genre, but Night Elves have this certain enigmatic nature to them, like they stepped out of Faerie tales. Faerie, not Fairy. They've always been a powerful and mystical race whose origins extend back to ancient times, being one of the longest-lived and most ancient cultures in existence today. These then-immortal beings were among the first to study magic and let it loose throughout the world nearly ten thousand years before the First War which, yes is a quote from online, but that was one of the first things I've ever read that made me seek out the Kaldorei immediately. Night Elves have a culture that is so expansive and well-thought out by the hands of Players and Blizzard alike that I truly think there's something in their repertoire for everybody. Weather you wanted to portray a Druid of nature healing the wounds of Teldrassil, or simply a Sentinel seeking justice for it, there's no end to what you can and cannot do :)
IC: What memory has the most impact on your character's life, and does it drive them today? Rheor, like his brothers, is not a happy Elf. He has known a great deal of suffering throughout his life. During the burning of Teldrassil he found himself more of a medical aid then the warrior he is. It was the first time he found himself assisting other's wounds and helping them to safety rather than charging into battle with shield first. At first the thought of Stormwind was the area of safety yet seeing that the Moon Guard stronghold had not yet fallen, Suramar had not yet fallen, and the Kaldorei people yet stood. Then, he saw the Shield spreading over Suramar City. At first, he cheered with the others, thinking it a miracle. Until he realized he, nor anyone, could get in. He could only fall back as the Legion began preying upon the Elves who died banging upon the shield, begging to be let in. Suramar’s actions killed more Elves that day than the Legion. . That, was Their first betrayal
Rheor stood guard over Suramar Province, performing his duty of the Moon Guard as best as he could, alongside his fellow Guardsmen and kin. He obeyed his superiors, lived alongside his brother, he protected Suramar, hoping that one day, the Elves could be reunited with their isolated kin. And indeed, one day, the shield fell and the Nightborne came to them, and the Moon Guard welcomed them with open arms. They exchanged greetings and words and shared tomes of great power in friendship. Yet the night borne had come as a Word in Sheep’s clothing. They launched their attack once inside, slaughtered the Moon Guard and almost everyone and everything that Rheor had ever cared about. They betrayed the Night Elves and all of Azeroth to the Burning Legion.
That was the second betrayal and was his desire to make it the last.
OOC: Describe your dream job or the hobbies you most enjoy and why. My dream job was to always become a police officer or lawyer. I was an MP in the Army out of Fort Hood Texas while serving basic at Fort Leonard Wood in MS. I served 4 years, then left to head off to college here in Wisconsin to obtain my degree. During that time, I was introduced to Marketing and have been doing that now the last 17 years of my life. I worked for a digital company here in Wisconsin that was bought out by Google 7 years ago, so for the last 7 years I have been a Google Account Executive and love every bit of it. My hobbies are whatever the kids are into as they're my entire life. However, if I am able to sit down and relax it's Warcraft, my Packers (If they're on) or WWE wrestling (if it's on) IC: What skills can your character teach, and do they have any hidden talents? Of course! Rheor, like his brothers, is one of the few surviving Moon Guard from the Fortress in Suramar Province. Though not one of the Senior members who survived, he is still an experienced Sorcerer from an era long-thought forgotten by the Kaldorei and has an intimate knowledge of the arcane workings of Suramar City, its magics and the arcane crafts of the Kaldorei Empire. His dream is to one day found a new order of Moon Guard to fight on the side of his people, whether it's in the Alliance or without. However, unlike his brothers, who've perused the studies of arcane more than he, a simple shield and sword have been his lifeline. His ability to defend others, guard higher ranks, and lead others into battle has provided Rheor with a sense of purpose of duty. Until ordered otherwise, he sticks to what he's best at.
Nature Resistance OOC: What personal strengths and weaknesses do you want to develop as a writer? When it comes to humans, I have extensive knowledge and a 7-page background story written for my first RP toon, a Human Paladin. I know the history and lore of them so that's easy for me to understand and fall into easier. With the extensive, and massive history of the Kaldorei there is so much more to know. I feel my weaknesses fall simply on the lack of knowledge I currently have throughout the lore of Night Elves. During this experience I am severely hoping to obtain more of that. My wife sometimes jokes that I know more of the history of Warcraft that I do of the US :)
IC: Name one thing you love about your character, and one thing you'd like to improve for them. I'd like to improve his Arcane abilities. I know my older brother, Liodred, has far surpassed him with our abilities and would like to one day impress him more. I'd like my character to assist his brothers in once again obtaining a residence within another group of Night Elves with similar beliefs and drive. Moon Guard will never die as long as it's people still remain. Rheor would simply like to assist in helping it regrow.
Wisp Spirit OOC: Describe your hopes and expectations for your ideal roleplay community. With RPing over the last 8 years I have noticed a WIDE variety of player types. I simply want to adapt to others and their RP types to help mine expand. I want to join a community of experienced as well as unexperienced players to learn from each of them. Where all ideas are shared, looked at and either complimented or assisted with for those newer players. I can't stand the rude, negative actions of those experienced players ripping into newer RPers. We were all new once and I like helping them grow their stories as I did mine :)
IC: Is your character spiritual, and what made them that way? Rheor is spiritual but not as much as his brothers are. They're older and wiser than he. Rheor knows there is much to learn still and intends to do so. Elune is his goddess, his guardian and shield and would die to protect others who see her that way. He also sees himself as a protector of her faith and her light, as well as the dominion of the Kaldorei. He is both honest and direct where he tells it how it is whether you want to hear the truth or not. He cares about the Kaldorei more than he ever thought as of late with now knowing a beacon like Teldrassil can be ripped from this world. Now more than ever he looks to Elune for strength to aid him in defending his people and family.
Shadowmeld OOC: Are you an introvert or extrovert, and what does your ideal get together consist of? I joke that in real life I have an extrovert as my job requires it and I have a team under me. What I love about Warcraft is I can be an introvert. I find others to play with and if they're polite, kind and respectful in RP I will follow them across servers and realms to play with them. It's a nice change outside of the real world :)
IC: Does your character like going on adventures or would they prefer to stay home and relax, why? Rheor is always trying to keep busy. Whether it's training, going on adventures, or simply doing a few random tasks around the home, he just consistently likes to keep on the move. He finds trouble in sitting down and reading as to where he'd rather be out creating his own story over reading of someone elses.
Ishnu'alah and well met, fellow wielder of the Arcane Arts! Be welcome.
It's always great seeing Kaldorei who are keeping our magical art alive. I know Iva would love to meet you (she hails from nearby the Moon Guard stronghold herself so might already be a familiar face to some extent when she would be assisting her priestess mother) and learn some spellwork from Rheor. I can imagine they'll be able to spend long hours pouring over old tomes and discussing the intricacies therein. And mayhap you can help her with her mage homework :p You sound like a delight to RP with and I'm very excited to interact with Rheor ingame!
