Hi there! I play a ren'dorei ghotstblade (rogue) called Feyahni. I've played this in-game character since 2007, though the RP character itself was not always a void elf (obviously) and not always who she is now. I've been back and forth between Wyrmrest Accord and Moon Guard over the years, following community activity and my own sensibilities as the atmospheres of the servers have shifted. I've known about Silver Circle for many years at this point. I've always been incredibly impressed by everything about this guild. From the server events you all have hosted to the way your guild is run and set up...it's my cup of tea. From the outside looking in, this guild comes across as a dying breed -- a thing that pays a certain attention to detail few other guilds do anymore. I've recently come back to Wyrmrest Accord for the explicit purpose of interacting with you all. Though I know my void elf can never join as a true member, I hope, should RP and the way it goes allow it, to become someone affiliated with you all and in that way share in the incredible structure and environment you've built! :D
Now then, without further ado, I'll answer the guestbook questions. I realize there have been no new posts here in some time, but I have no problem breaking that ice all over again. :D
OOC: What about the kaldorei inspires you, and what is your favorite thing about them?
I've always loved the kaldorei. I'm a sucker for elven races in fantasy. The kaldorei are ancient, connected to nature, and seasoned in a way that not many other races in the Warcraft universe can claim. From an RP point of view, role playing such a race presents a challenge, none of us having anything close to the perspective that beings who have lived thousands of years would have. And yet, in that challenge, I find my interest piqued and inspired! Granted, I do not play a kaldorei. But I have an OOC love for them, and I try to apply that same understanding and perspective to my void elf.
IC: What memory has the most impact on your character's life, and does it drive them today?
To name only one memory as most important is a thing that presents much difficulty. Few are those among my people who would fail to acknowledge the fall of Quel'thalas and the destruction of the Sunwell. Such events have shaped everything that followed them and form the base motivation for my current path as ghostblade. In matters more personal, taking the life of one of my own former people weighs heavily upon mind. It occurred during the conflict for Darkshore. Details withstanding, the sin'dorei whose life I claimed still haunts my thoughts to this day. Though I know my actions were just, I find myself unable to fully shake their impact. Since then, I have resolved to make every effort to keep killing as last resort.
OOC: Describe your dream job or the hobbies you most enjoy and why.
My dream job would likely be some kind of passive income to be honest, lol! Otherwise, if I were a more creative type, I think I would enjoy some kind of content creation. My hobbies consist of gaming and writing, obviously, as well as reading, exercise, research/fact-checking, archery, martial arts, more modern weaponry, and technology.
IC: What skills can your character teach and do they have any hidden talents?
My path is that of the ghostblade. As one who stands among the ren'dorei, I am able to teach the basic concepts of the Shadow along with strategies for preserving mind in the face of its manipulations. Basic poisoncraft is among my skills as are a certain form of martial arts. Otherwise I hold cursory knowledge of tinkering and machine-craft. Though to assume role of teacher in latter regard is not a thing I would dare to claim.
OOC: What personal strengths and weaknesses do you want to develop as a writer?
I try to be a flexible writer who also maintains a certain style in the way I write within the Warcraft universe. To be honest, I take a lot of inspiration from the Spartacus TV series that aired on STARZ some years ago. I love the way dialogue is written in that show. It's made to sound as Latin would in English while also being quite Shakespearean and colorful. I imagine that such patterns of speech would fit quel'dorei/sin'dorei/ren'dorei quite well given their background and history.
I also try to adapt my post length to the room. If I am among a group that prefers shorter posts, I do my best to accommodate. The same applies for groups that deal in longer posts. In large groups, I try to keep things more concise. In one-on-one settings, I'll be more descriptive and take more liberties. I'm pretty happy with where I am as a writer, but I'm always looking to do better and find ways to improve.
IC: Name one thing you love about your character, and one thing you'd like to improve for them.
A thing I love about myself? Hmm. I suppose that who I am, given all I have been through and survived pleases me. To reduce such sentiment to one single point, however, I am inclined to place weight upon my my mind. I was raised to believe certain truths -- truths that would waver and fall to pieces as I aged and experienced challenges life would present. My view of the kaldorei is one of those truths that I found shattered in the wake of life's events. I hold deep respect for my own ancient roots and thereby for all of you. I am confident that more favorable relationships can be forged from ashes of past disagreement in heat of war and common interest as we move toward the future.
As for what about my life I wish to improve, I feel such question has already been answered. I would see amicable relationship formed with those from whom my own people have come and aid them in what ways I am able.
OOC: Describe your hopes and expectations for your ideal role play community.
I wish for a role play community that first and foremost respects the setting. Second, I value a community that shows maturity and an ability to discuss said setting intelligently and respectfully. I seek a community that has solid, strong leadership as well as solid storytellers who keep an overarching narrative running in a way that allows for character development and enjoyment for all involved. From all I can tell, Silver Circle is that kind of community. :D
IC: Is your character spiritual, and what made them that way?
Spiritual is not a designation I would apply to myself. However, I believe I shall always hold certain reverence for the Eternal Sun. I have also come to realize the power of Elune, her manifestation as the Night Warrior unmistakable and undeniable.
OOC: Are you an introvert or extrovert, and what does your ideal get together consist of?
I am definitely an introvert. That is probably not a very surprising thing given the general tendency of the RP community. My ideal get-together depends on a few things. If I'm around a lot of people I know, I can do larger gatherings. I can also enjoy larger gatherings if I'm sufficiently drunk. :P Otherwise, smaller gatherings are better when I am otherwise not intoxicated or among familiar company. Good conversation is always welcome.
IC: Does your character like going on adventures or would they prefer to stay home and relax, why?
Though I adore time to relax and be at peace, I find myself drawn to duty, service, and the protection of our world and its people. My current path was born of necessity and resolve. I find that I function best when my goals are pointed and clear.
😎 What an awesome introduction post! Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing Feya! It's so awesome to hear from you in our little night elf tree house.
I don't see others put archery down for their OOC interests/hobbies very often, but that's very much my jam as well. I've been shooting for almost 20 years! 😱
Feya sounds like a nicely developed character, and I can tell from your replies that you've put a lot of care into her. I think it's phenomenal you've been playing her for so long, and I'm very interested to learn about the adventures you've embarked upon in the past with her.
I did want to let you know that I never did receive your btag friend request the other day, after our chat on the WRA forums. Sometimes people transpose the letters in my btag name, so it may have ended up going to the wrong individual. Or some other battle.net error has occurred, I've been running into some issues with my account in regard to that. It might be easier if I try to add you instead, if you're okay with sharing your tag 😀
Thanks for the reply! I've only been involved in archery for a little less than 10 years myself and super casually to boot. There aren't many places for an apartment-dweller to shoot unless I travel about an hour away, but I do enjoy the few chances I get nonetheless!
I'll absolutely share my Btag here. Bnet and certain in-game functions like /who have been really wonky for a while now. Hopefully it'll work when you try to add me.
I look forward to eventually getting to know Feyawen and all the other wonderful SC members. Perhaps I'll be able to break the IC ice at the Kaldorei Winter Market event or the Lunar Festival event. 😃
I am so fascinated by long-standing characters like yours. It's a feat to have roleplayed one actively throughout so much of WoW's history, and I'm a huge fan of her roguish roots combined with a sin'dorei past. It's hard to convey properly through forum posts but I loveee love love her so far and appreciate your attention to detail both IC and OOC. I also definitely feel ya on the passive income lmao - I'd prefer to focus on my creative endeavors without the pressure of survival, yanno?
Your intro is incredibly inspiring and I'm super excited to interact with you! 😭💞
Hey Shaureyne! Thanks so much for all the kind words! It's super flattering and means a lot.
So far I've managed to have some pretty good introductions and re-establishing of vague old familiarity at the Kaldorei Winter Market. I too cannot wait to get the chance for our characters to meet IC. If Shaureyne is the seasoned rogue of far more experience and years that she appears to be, Feyahni will very much look up to her and enjoy possibly talking shop as they come to know one another better.
If only we could devote all of our time to pursuing the things we loved instead of having to account for more basic needs, lol! But you know...gotta keep that roof over our heads and food on the table. :P
In any case, I'll be looking forward to my next chance to interact!
