Ilaera Windsong
((Hello everyone! I play Ilaera Windsong, a priestess-turned-warrior cleric (monk) that has been around since 4 months after the game was released. I've been missing night elf roleplay so much as Ilaera is my main and my 'baby' after all these years. I look forward so much to getting to know you all!))

OOC: What about the kaldorei inspires you, and what is your favorite thing about them?
In most games, I am drawn to elves. Ilaera was my first character in World of Warcraft and she is still my main today. I am intensely drawn to their spirituality, nobility, wisdom, elegance, and, truly, that savagery that lies within them. Elves are underestimated in my opinion when it comes to fighting- and I love proving that trope wrong! I love the lore associated with elves in World of Warcraft and the kaldorei are by far my favorite.
IC: What memory has the most impact on your character's life, and does it drive them today?
When I close my eyes I can still see her. My daughter, young, too young to have gone on the journeys I took her on. I wanted her to see the world- to grow up with a sense of wonder, and a love of exploration and reverence for Azeroth and all the creatures and people therein. Instead we were ambushed, outnumbered, and overrun. My dear friend and I survived, as did some of the folk who explored and travelled iwth us, but many more perished. I still remember Xaellia, when I hid her behind a tree, between it and some dense brush, hoping in vain they would not find her. I remember her face, afraid, but determined to stay hidden, to come back to me. I remember finding the necklace I imbued with protection and love for her at her birth. I remember the blood, the bodies, all those souls going back to the Mother, dancing with Elune. I never saw her again. It was my fault. I wanted her to see the world. I should have protected her, guided her, and raised her within the protective circle of our people. It is a mistake I will not make again. I am devoted to protecting the kaldorei from all threats. I promised this to my child.. my sweet Xaellia. I will not let her down.

OOC: Describe your dream job or the hobbies you most enjoy and why.
I love writing, getting lose in reading Wikipedia and other random bits of knowledge, drawing, cooking, reading Tarot cards, singing, and streaming on Twitch. I'm a creative, spiritual person, and creating is when I'm happiest.
IC: What skills can your character teach and do they have any hidden talents?
I have learned over the years since my daughter was taken from me- worked through rage, through sorrow, through bestial wrath I could not control for so very long. I learned to navigate through those raw emotions, to channel them and control them. I have come back to the arts of healing, but my life's mission is to help others attain this same calmness. I have found stillness, finally. I have found reconciliation, and I have learned temperance and Balance the hardest way one can, through loss. I hope to continue on this path to personal improvement and serenity- while ever remaining prepared to protect my people with tooth and nail.

OOC: What personal strengths and weaknesses do you want to develop as a writer?
I really would love to see Ilaera evolve through roleplay. I would love to see her character interact iwth others, complete storylines to add to her history, and to fine tune her character. As a writer I can be a bit long winded, but I am learning to curb that. I am a writer by profession, so I'm always attempting to evolve and improve.
IC: Name one thing you love about your character, and one thing you'd like to improve for them.
I have learned strength, calmness, and serenity, and I love those qualities- the personal, quiet pride of knowing I have overcome and grown. Yet, there are still flaws to my character- beneath the stillness is a pain that will never truly leave. I can be withdrawn, and yet a large part of me yearns for fellowship, companionship, and meaning. My solitude has come to an end. I am ready to rejoin a community of my peers.

OOC: Describe your hopes and expectations for your ideal roleplay community.
I love roleplay communities that are true to lore and yet still allow characters to be themselves, nuances and all. Humor, maturity, and respect is a big deal to me. I also want to have fun, to get to know people and make friends. I've been playing mostly by myself for a long time.
IC: Is your character spiritual, and what made them that way?
((She began as a devoted priestess of Elune. Then she had her daughter, and her ideals changed. While she still revered Elune and remained devoted to her, she took Xaellia to as many places as she could, from and early age. When she lost her daughter, she lost her faith for a long time. She became blinded by rage and devoted herself to fighting against any enemies- the Horde, the Legion, the Scourge. Wherever there was battle to be done, she was there. Until.. she realized there was something deeply missing in her life. She regained her spirituality by becoming almost hermit-like, working through that pain and honing her healing and physical prowess. She communed with Nature, with the Balance, and finally, returned to Elune. She is not a typical priestess, robed and in a great temple. But she is devoted to her nonetheless and has received the blessing of the Night Warrior. She considers herself a bit of a battle cleric now, as well as something of a counselor to those who are in need of one. ))

OOC: Are you an introvert or extrovert, and what does your ideal get together consist of?
I'm an introvert most of the time, but I do enjoy meeting people very much. My ideal get together is pretty open-ended. I'm kind of a free spirit, very easy-going and open-minded. I'm basically up for almost anything.
IC: Does your character like going on adventures or would they prefer to stay home and relax, why?
((After years in a little hunting lodge in the woods of Ashenvale, Ilaera has rekindled her love for adventure as her spirituality has flourished once more. While she enjoys a good night at home with a nice glass of Dalaran red and a good book, fireplace crackling, she is finally ready to go out and explore again. She's emerging from her shell and wants to help her people in any way she can.))

Nice to meet you, Ilaera. Love the character concept, in fact it's basically a much-more fleshed-out version of my own Silver Circle Kaldorei: Laranel here was my first real Nelf, and the concept of a Nelf Monk was something I always wanted to see explored. I've struggled a bit with establishing a lot of her background and motivation, so it's really interesting to see someone else's take on a similar character idea.

I look forward to meeting her in RP, and hope we see more of you in-game soon.
