Hello everyone! I am excited for this endeavor. The character name is Dhrys Rosenoak, a young (about 30) druid without very much experience in the world. War has not ravaged her family and she grew up in a home without strife. She is naive to the things of the world but is setting out in order to find her place outside of her home, her books, and her gadgets. I attended the meeting and met a couple of you as well. I look forward to interacting with all of you.
Touch of Elune
OOC: What about the kaldorei inspires you, and what is your favorite thing about them? The Kaldorei was my favorite race ever since I started playing Warcraft 3 competitively as the Night Elves. My first character was a Night Elf Hunter back in the days of Classic World of Warcraft. The deftness of the hunters and the strength of the druids have always intrigued and inspired me.
IC: What memory has the most impact on your character's life, and does it drive them today? Shifting cautiously in her seat, Dhrys stares at her book. Unwilling to make eye contact, she says in an innocent voice, "My parents pushed me into the priesthood at an early age, as my father and mother were priests of Elune. I wasn't against it, but I had no talent. I knew Elune loved me, but I was never blessed by the Moon Goddess and endowed with her power as my fellow priestesses." Shifting again, she closes the book. Reaching down and grasping the dirt in her hand, with a quirky smile she speaks again, "I had to have some kind of calling, so I became a druid. It's not want I really want to do, but sometimes we cannot change the lot that has been given us; but, I truly just want to tinker with my gadgets and finding new recipes!"
OOC: Describe your dream job or the hobbies you most enjoy and why. I live a simple life by choice. I never thought that I would like the job that I am in (electronic technician), but I loved it from the first week of work (the fact that it pays well is a plus) and I would wish to change what I do. My biggest hobby, aside from Warcraft, is fishing. Where I live, there is an abundance of fish and I consider it to be my paradise.
IC: What skills can your character teach and do they have any hidden talents? Dhrys' eyes light up, "I am really deft with my hands. I have created many gadgets including attack machines and goggles that can give the wearer the ability to see far distances." Her face deviates from cheer to doubt. "I know that I am young, but I think that I have a considerable amount of knowledge to contribute to the cause..." Her sentence trails off.
OOC: What personal strengths and weaknesses do you want to develop as a writer? As an amateur short story writer, I am in the habit of starting stories and not being able to finish them. I get writers block about a quarter of the way into the story and that is why I end up writing short stories. It has been many years since I have written and was thinking of using this as a spring board into getting back into the habit.
IC: Name one thing you love about your character, and one thing you'd like to improve for them. I love Dhrys because of her convictions. She is willing to learn about almost anything that pertains to gadgets and will give advice when asked, but has no confidence in herself. Even knowing the right answer, she will still shrink away to let others say their piece. However, timidity does not equal weakness. She is a skilled engineer at her age and is not willing to give up on her goals.
OOC: Describe your hopes and expectations for your ideal roleplay community. My desire is to become part of a community. I have done some roleplay in the past (back in Wrath of the Lich King), but I know that I am rusty. I want to be a part of something bigger in the game. To be able to think about not myself, but to be in the shoes of someone else, campaigning with friends.
IC: Is your character spiritual, and what made them that way? "Spiritual? No..." Dhrys sighs, "My parents would kill me if they heard what I just said. I don't deny Elunes existence and I know she gives us all grace, but I just am not one for traditions or temples." Chuckling to herself, "Sometimes I find myself more at home with the gnomes! But I am a Night Elf in my heart and I could never forsake my people. Even though the cities built by the gnomes are technical masterpieces, nothing beats like the heart of the Kaldorei Capitol!"
OOC: Are you an introvert or extrovert, and what does your ideal get together consist of? I, personally, am an introvert. My ideal get together consists of maybe a couple of friends at most either fishing, hunting, or playing video games (that defiantly seems like an odd combination). I love the solitude of the outdoors. Being out in nature with nothing but a lake, a forest, or a sea shore. I live in Alaska and their are all three and plenty of sunshine to enjoy. RPGs are my game of choice; whether it be World of Warcraft, Dragon Age, or Dark Souls. I also like RTSs as I stated earlier - Warcraft, Starcraft, and Command and Conquer mostly.
IC: Does your character like going on adventures or would they prefer to stay home and relax, why? "There is nothing like staying at home and reading a good book," Dhrys says, matter-of-factly. "Sitting on the balcony of my home is the most relaxing thing that I can do! Listening to the wisps fly by, the wind rustle the leaves, and the moon shining bright through the canopy." Dhrys smacks her fist in her hand, "That and tinkering! I just love to tinker with any kind of machinery!" Giving an bemused sigh, Dhrys looses herself in thought. Snapping to, she relents, "But I don't mind an adventure every now and again, with the right company, of course..."
HELL YEAH MORE YOUNG NIGHT ELVES! They're such a rarity, but they're so much fun to play. I'm definitely speaking from experience! Dhrys sounds super fun to be around (especially from her entry during Council Glade!) and I can't wait to see more of her! :D/
Dear Dhrys, You where a pleasure to meet last night at the Glade. I hope to meet you again so I can get to know your character, she sounds like a delight.
The Ancient One: We harness energy... drawn from other dimensions of the Multiverse... to cast spells... to conjure shields... and weapons... to make magic. Through the mystic arts, we harness energy and shape reality.
Thank you all for your kind words. I had a blast during the event and hope that I am able (schedule permitting) that I can attend more. I enjoyed the interactions I had with the ones I did have interactions with and I look forward to meeting everyone else.
