Hello, Silver Circle family! I've been to a few events over the months so I decided to formally follow procedure and create an introduction post. Ariasande is a Priestess of Elune who mostly focuses on her goddess's magic over bow and arrow (she's actually quite the terrible shot). I look forward to RPing with you more, as your guild's focus on its players' progression is refreshing and awesome.
Touch of Elune
OOC: What about the Kaldorei inspires you, and what is your favorite thing about them? Their aesthetic, their culture, everything about them is beautiful, yet fierce. I've been fascinated by them since I first started playing in Vanilla (my first RP character was actually a night elf rogue). I love the duality of poised grace and savage viciousness that they have, and love exploring it with my alts from different angles.
IC: What memory has the most impact on your character's life, and does it drive them today? Ariasande becomes quiet, still as a lake in moonlight. "My mother..." she starts, then shakes her head and corrects herself. "My foster mother, that is, took great care of me. She sheltered me from the world and all its harshness. When Hyjal fell at the end of the Third War, my world was shattered when I lost her as well as my home. It has driven me to seek out my people, to find my place in the world, and to live up to her expectations." Ariasande smiles faintly, her eyes dim from reflection. "I hope she sees me from Elune's stars and is smiling on me. I feel her in every breath, every step I take in this world, and I pray that I am living up to her expectations." Quickness
OOC: Describe your dream job or the hobbies you most enjoy and why. I'm a software developer right now, but one day I hope to advance to become a software architect, which is someone who doesn't just code software, but designs it as well. Language has always been a passion of mine, and I consider programming to be an extension of language (as well as a fun math puzzle sometimes!). I code in my free time and like to write and RP as well, as these are all expressions of my love of language as a whole.
IC: What skills can your character teach and do they have any hidden talents? "Devotion, I believe, is a lesson I can impart well, as it requires great devotion to serve the goddess," Ariasande bows her head, keeping her eyes focused on her hands. She seems somewhat shy about talking about herself. "In the past I served as a war chaplain to Kaldorei who found themselves lost or forgotten by their goddess in times of battle. I consider it my highest calling to seek out these poor souls and reconnect them to Elune's path."
"As for talents, I'm a rather skilled harp player, if I say so myself, and I've been told I have a beautiful singing voice. I compose hymns in my spare time, you see." She laughs brightly, but uncomfortably, "This is rather embarrassing to admit, but I also have a certain fondness for tea leaf readings and astrology."
OOC: What personal strengths and weaknesses do you want to develop as a writer? I do fairly well at containing a lot of descriptive information in small bites. This comes from my resistance to para RP, which I don't believe fits well in the format of WoW in game roleplay. Because I don't allow myself longer than a paragraph or so to type, I have to be creative in how I describe things.
Writing more reserved characters like Ariasande is a weakness of mine. Since I tend to avoid writing out thoughts in emotes, it can be hard to express what's going on in her head. I tend to value a "show, don't tell" approach to RP, so finding the right words in the right timeframe can be difficult.
IC: Name one thing you love about your character, and one thing you'd like to improve for them. I love Ariasande's poise. She's very prim and ladylike without being arrogant or overbearing. This can make it very hard to display the full range of her personality, which I fear some people might find rather boring if they don't go deeper than skin deep. I'd like to give her more opportunities to come out of her shell and be the bright, warm person I see her as in her head.
I'd also like more opportunities to display Ariasande's weaknesses. She's vain, self-centered, and gossipy, and I don't get to play that side of her very often.
OOC: Describe your hopes and expectations for your ideal roleplay community. My ideal roleplay community gives me ample opportunity to let my character shine. I don't have to be the center of attention all the time, of course, but I'd like chances to really let Ariasande show her stuff. I'm also looking for one that fosters growth and character change, with members that are willing to have tough IC conversations. All in all, I suppose I'm looking for a family for my character, not just a bunch of names standing beside her.
IC: Is your character spiritual, and what made them that way? Ariasande is very spiritual. Everything she does she does with intention of serving her goddess in one way or another. She feels guilty for indulging in personal pleasure, although the guilt doesn't always stop her. She's also very concerned with the appearance of being the perfect priestess, which often gets in the way of the reality of what it takes.
When Ariasande lost her mother, the temple took her in. It became a second home to her, and she clung to it with all her might out of fear of losing it again. It's become so much that it's another extension of her self, and, for better or for worse, her identity is tied to being a priestess of Elune.
OOC: Are you an introvert or extrovert, and what does your ideal get together consist of? I am very much the extrovert. I love small talk, hanging out, being around strangers, trying new things together. I like being in the center of the room at the party, introducing people to each other, learning people's stories. Despite that, I do enjoy get togethers with friends that are focused around a certain activity. I get stir crazy when there's nothing going on and we're just sitting there.
IC: Does your character like going on adventures or would they prefer to stay home and relax, why?
If Ariasande had a choice, she'd probably relax all the time. She's not hard to get moving, but danger and excitement aren't really things she craves. She's the type who loves to sit on the veranda with a good hot cup of tea and just listen to the rain fall. She enjoys things that ignite the senses like a good homecooked meal or handmade perfume.

Sounds like someone Fey would get along with very well!
Ishnu'alah Ari! It's lovely to see an intro thread from you! We've had so much fun RPing with you here and there over the last few months. I'm greatly looking forward to learning more about Ari as a character, and playing WoW with you!
